We Go High (WGH) was founded in March 2023 by Sharon Sund to build Black women’s independent political power.

Developing Our Agenda

Recognizing that we cannot effect change on our own,  We have chosen to partner with values-aligned organizations such as ISAIAH and their sister organization Faith in Minnesota.  Since we began, we have had hundreds of conversations with Black women about the change they would like to see and from those conversations developed the concept of “Building  the Beloved Communities” with the following Agenda Priorities:

  • Housing
  • Healthcare
  • Democracy
  • Children & Youth
  • Public Safety
  • Thriving Workers
  • Environmental Justice

From our priorities, we developed specific policies. We followed a Caucus path to get many of our agenda items included in party platforms and we talked to State Representatives and Senators to get their support for bills that benefit Black families and communities.  Moving forward we will continue to have conversations and to set our legislative agenda.

A Room in the ISAIAH/Faith in Minnesota House

ISAIAH (501 c3) and Faith in Minnesota (501 c4) are sister nonpartisan nonprofit organizations.

Faith in Minnesota (FIMN)  is a political home for people of shared values who are acting boldly and prophetically to create a new, people-centered politics in our state — one rooted in abundance, where everyone is in and no one is out. Some come to this work because of faith values and traditions, while others find that it gives them reasons to have faith in Minnesotans and the future we’re building. The ISAIAH/FIMN shared vision we all work toward is a multiracial democracy, a caring economy, and a just climate future.

It was decided early on that we at We Go High would work with ISAIAH/FIMN as we built black women’s political power.  Following successful training and fundraising events, it was decided that We Go High would become an official part of the organization or that we would have “a room in the house”.  This allows us to leverage power and resources built by FIMN while adding our voices and power, and influencing priorities.  By working with others inside and outside of FIMN, we can help create a future that benefits everyone.
